Our Story
West End New Testament Church of God was started in late 1999 when Bishop Leonard Gibbs at the urging of the Ramsaroop family and other families started a series of prayer meetings at the house of Sis Thelma Tomlinson. After the growth of the meetings there was a need for a bigger place for Sunday School and to worship so on May 7, 2000 we held our first service at 9000 West Airy st, in part of the building owned by the Central Presbyterian Church.
In October 2001 the church was officially organized with 15 members as West End New Testament Church of God. The church grew and on June 30, 2012 God blessed us with the current building at 23 West Marshall st, Norristown PA.
In February 2021, Rev Denver Shaw was asked by District Overseer Bishop Steven Poyser to take over the pastorship after the retirement of Bishop Gibbs. Under Rev Shaw’s leadership many have accepted the Lord Jesus as Savior, many have been baptized in water, and some have been filled with the Holy Spirit. He has blessed babies, and received members in the church. He has continued Sunday School and started Children’s Church. He believes in community involvement and has launched an Annual Fun Day put on by the church for the people of Norristown. Rev Shaw is a Pastor, Teacher and a soul winner. He believes in the growth of every member so that they can be productive disciples of Jesus Christ.
Our Pastor
Rev Denver Shaw was born on the island of Jamaica. He obtained an MBA from Baruch College and a certificate in ministerial studies from the Church of God at the Athanasius School of Ministry in New York.
Influenced by the ministries of the late Bishop Dr A.G Quarrie (Bronx) and Bishop Felix Poyser (Philadelphia), Rev Shaw seeks to empower individuals to become productive members of society and the Kingdom of God as witnesses of Jesus Christ.

Our Beliefs
We are Pentecostal church that follows the Statement of Faith of the Church of God Tennessee.
- In the verbal inspiration of the Bible
- That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Ghost, and born of the Virgin Mary. That Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead. That He ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor.
- That all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for forgiveness of sins.
- That justification, regeneration, and the new birth are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.
- In sanctification subsequent to the new birth, through faith in the blood of Christ; through the Word, and by the Holy Ghost.
- Holiness to be God’s standard of living for His people.
- In the baptism with the Holy Ghost subsequent to a clean heart.
- In speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance and that it is the initial evidence of the baptism in the Holy Ghost.
- In water baptism by immersion, and all who repent should be baptized
- Divine healing is provided for all in the atonement.
- In the Lord’s Supper and washing of the saints’ feet.
- In the premillennial second coming of Jesus. First, to resurrect the righteous dead and to catch away the living saints to Him in the air. Second, to reign on the earth a thousand years.
- In the bodily resurrection; eternal life for the righteous, and eternal punishment for the wicked.
